Choosing High Quality Child Care with an Emphasis on PLAY!
The focus of this workshop will be to examine the important process of choosing quality child care. Participants will be presented with an opportunity to learn what quality child care looks like and how to identify the signs of poor quality child care as well as understanding the cost of child care.  A discussion will be held on the availability and accessibility of child care. We will also have some fun exploring the value of play.

Parent Management Training Summer Session Begins July 8 to August 7
WJCS is offering a summer 10-session evidence-based parent management training group for parents of children with a developmental disability or with an autistic spectrum disorder. The group will meet on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 9:30 - 11:00 AM for five weeks from July 8 to August 7.

It’s Your Voice! Have it Heard! Become a Parent Child Care Advocate

Today there are more than 11 million children under the age of 5 in some type of child care arrangement every week while their parents work.  On average children of working parents, spend 35 hours every week in child care.  Learn about current federal, state and local policies surrounding child care.  Parent advocates are one of the keys to help strengthen the quality, availability and cost of child care.

WJCS
Empowering Moms and Kids
Group support and education for moms and children ages 4 – 7 who have experienced domestic violence or threats from their partner. Families must live in or get services in Mount Vernon. Child care available for younger sibling, early dinner and Metro Cards provided.

Westchester Jewish Community Services
A variety of programs working with parents to develop communication, discipline and coping skills to strengthen family systems and/or improve their children's academic and personal prospects for the future. Some programs are geared directly to parenting skills; others engage parents to support the work being done with youngsters or adolescents at risk.

Family Ties of Westchester
A wide range of support groups, advocacy services, parent coaching, and connection to community resources,  as well as respite and youth development opportunities. We recognize you, the caregiver, as a full partner in planning for your family's success based on your family's unique strengths and culture. All Family Ties services are free, confidential and community-based. We have a "never give up" philosophy and will be here to support you for as long as you need us.

The Westchester Independent Living Center (WILC)
The Parent Training and Information Center (PTIC)
is a Program of WILC. It informs parents of children with special needs about their rights in the education system. It provides training, advocacy, technical assistance, and information and referral services in Dutchess, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Sullivan, Ulster, and Westchester counties.

Westchester Institute for Human Development (WIHD) Lower Hudson Early Childhood Direction Center (Birth to age 5)
The Early Childhood Direction Center (ECDC) is a free, confidential, and neutral information, referral, technical assistance, and training center. Parents of children from birth to age five with known or suspected special needs, as well as professionals who provide any kind of services to children, may access our services. The ECDC at WIHD serves Westchester, Rockland, and Putnam counties, and is part of a statewide network of fourteen ECDCs funded by the Office of Special Education of the New York State Education Department (NYSED).

Westchester Institute for Human Development (WIHD) Parent to Parent
Parent to Parent of NYS is a place where families of individuals with special needs and the professionals who serve them can meet and share information. The Hudson Valley Region Office of Parent to Parent of NYS is a parent-staffed program that assists families of individuals with special needs within the Westchester, Rockland, Orange, and Sullivan County areas. Parents/caregivers have the opportunity to connect one-to-one with a parent/caregiver of an individual with the same or similar disability or special health care need through our parent matching service. Our office provides free and confidential information, resources, referrals, and training to families and professionals. Training sessions are available for on topics including: Support Parents, Understanding Medicaid Service Coordination, Use of a Health Care Notebook, and more.
