Early care and education programs are either licensed or registered by the NYS Office of Children and Family Services. Registrations and licenses typically need to be renewed 2 years after the initial licensing or registration and then every 4 years after that.
The following is a schedule of reminders sent and due dates for receiving documentation during the renewal process.
- Programs will receive a renewal application 120 days before license expiration
- Required documentation for renewal must be received by the Child Care Council or Spring Valley Regional Office at least 60 days before license expiration
- Verification that the program has completed 30 hours of required training in all 9 topic areas every two year must be submitted at 60 days. A total of 60 hours of training is needed when renewing a 4 year license or registration.
- Health Care Plan must be renewed with health care consultant, being sure that required trainings are up to date. Any changes in MAT trained staff must be made
- Programs will receive a written reminder 45 days before license expiration that all documentation must be submitted immediately.
The Child Care Council of Westchester oversees the registration of family child care providers and school age programs.
