CCCW/ISACC Training Kits

The Child Care Council of Westchester, Inc. has developed a unique resource for school age directors to utilize to train staff. Created in response to the challenges school age directors face in scheduling off site training for their staff, the CCCW/ISACC Training Kits provide quality on site training to further enhance staff’s professional knowledge, improve program quality and meet the requirements of OCFS regulations.

Designed specifically for school age staff, there are Training Kits in the following topic areas:

Creating an Inviting School Age Program Environment
Participants discover the reasons for designing indoor environments that create opportunities for children to engage in a wide variety of activities. The participants redesign their own program environment using provided templates. 

Integrating Project Based Activities in Your School Age Program
Provides ideas and strategies to help school age directors and staff develop, integrate and use project based activities in their after school programs.

Homework Assistance in Your After School Program
Explores different types of homework assistance and assists program staff to determine which type of homework assistance best meets the needs of their children and families.

Making School Age Program Planning Intentional and Meaningful
Provides activities and program planning strategies for school age staff to use when developing activities for children.

Effective Supervision and Behavior Management of School Age Children
Explores supervision skills and strategies to protect the health and safety of children. Various techniques for effective behavior management are investigated.

Two new Training Kits are in development and will debut during the fall of 2012:

Starting Your School Year Off Right: What School Age Staff Need to Know
Explores a variety of topics and best practices that are important for new staff to know in order to be successful in working with school age children in your program.

Fostering a Sense of Wonder: How to Design and Implement Science in Your School Age Program
Guides school age staff in designing and implementing science learning into a school age program.

Each Training Kit provides the school age director with:

  • Agenda
  • Training lecture and with notes to the trainer
  • Training activities
  • Materials packet
  • Resources
  • Attendance form
  • Evaluation of the training for program staff; evaluation of the training kit for the director.
