The Council provides Basic Technical Assistance (lasting under 60 minutes) specific to a current or prospective provider/program on such topics as: best practices for providing child care, indicators of quality child care programs, information on business administration practices and regulations governing program compliance. This is available through all modes of written and verbal communication, such as phone, fax, or email. Technical assistance offered by the Registration department helps providers successfully complete the initial or renewal of a Family Day Care or School Age Child Care application for registration, and to those family child care providers and school age programs who are already registered with OCFS to improve regulatory compliance and promote quality regulated child care.
Legally Exempt department provides daily technical assistance to providers and parents receiving or applying for child care subsidy; with completing legally exempt enrollment applications, with setting up his/her program, children’s activities, business record maintenance, operating a registered/licensed facility, joining The Child and Adult Care Food Program.
CACFP department helps Family Day Care and Group Family Day Care providers successfully plan meals, complete menus and attendance sheets and remain in compliance with all aspects of CACFP.
Health Services department helps programs develop health care plans, review and approves documents related to the program’s medication administration policy, and helps develop medication procedures.
ISACC department assists school age programs increase quality and capacity.
Early childhood programs in Westchester County can access the services provided by the Region 6 Infant-Toddler Resource Center. The goal of this project is to improve the care of infants and toddlers by promoting and teaching the 10 Components of High Quality Care for Infants and Toddlers. We do this by offering the following:
- Onsite observation and technical assistance for centers and group family providers
- In-service training and group workshops that meet OCFS training requirements
- Telephone technical assistance
- Guidance and support
- Assistance in planning and arranging environments
- Resource library
- Information on best practices for infants and toddlers
The Council’s infant-toddler specialists can assist Center, Family, and Group-Family programs in promoting best practices by conducting the Infant/Toddler Environment Rating Scale (ITERS), or the Family Child Care Environment Rating Scale (FCCERS) assessments to improve the quality of your program.
