The Children's Book Council
This organization helps parents and caregivers understand the value of reading to children. Specific to infants and toddlers, the Council recommends books that are brightly colored, simple, wordless, and made of either cloth or boards.

Music Together
This program works with infants, toddlers, preschoolers and their families in order to expose both children and adults to the powerful educational influence of music. Music Together operates on the assumption that all children are inherently musical and allows both children and parents to actively participate in the making of music, rather than just the receiving of it (i.e. listening to it being played from CDs, etc.). Music Together also focuses on the forging of interfamilial bonds through music

"Babies Are Children Too"
This short article suggests that early childhood care providers observe an infant/toddler care setting for an entire day in order to discern how the caregiver interacts on the whole with the infants and toddlers. As the article asserts, the primary goal of the caregiver is to establish a warm, individual relationship with each child, and, through the process of observation, the observer may be able to pinpoint good methods and techniques for connecting with infants and/or toddlers. The article also imagines a scenario involving a nine-month old infant who is having trouble coping with the separation he or she experiences when left by his or her parents with the caregiver and suggests that the caregiver think carefully about how he or she would respond to this situation.
