CPR/First Aid Trainings Now Offered in-House
Classes in English and Spanish

The Council is pleased to announce that Heartsaver CPR with AED and Heartsaver First Aid courses are now being taught by Miriam Kerness, the Council’s Regional Infant Toddler Coordinator.   Spanish Language Heartsave CPR with AED and Heartsaver First Aid Courses are now being taught by Jose Leon, Registrar at the Council.   Both Ms. Kerness and Mr. Leon earned their certifications from the American Heart Association.   Certification in CPR and First Aid is a requirement for all licensed and registered programs.   All new programs must have certified staff prior to opening.

The courses in English are scheduled for Saturdays from 9 am to 5 pm - March 23rd, April 27th, May 25th, and June 29th.  The courses in Spanish are also from 9 am to 5 pm on April 6th and June 8th.

What you’ll learn:

  • How to perform adult, child, and infant CPR skills.
  • How to use an AED (Automated External Defibrillator).
  • How to manage emergencies until professional help arrives.
  • How to treat common emergencies: bleeding, sprains, broken bones, and shock.

One of the benefits of taking the training directly at the Council is that participants will receive a certification card in the mail within one week after completing the course.  This certification is valid for 2 years through The American Heart Association. This classmeets both OCFS and CDA requirements. At the end of this class ALL participants will receive an OCFS Training Certificate for 7 hours.

The cost of the combined CPR and First Aid course is $95 for Council members and $105 for non-members.  The AHA Heartsaver First/Aid/CPR/AED Student Workbook is available for purchase for $14.00.
